Current Artist: Laura Hallen November 14–January 2
Laura Hallen creates mixed-media artworks from unusual materials, ranging from tutus to toasted marshmallows, cotton to fishing lures all framed inside plexi box casings. Hallen’s work explores an especially girly aesthetic, which as a former tomboy and still avid gardener, makes her creative process feel like having a party. Her pieces act much like skin, protecting innards coursing and exploding inside a sanitized, neat container. Hallen’s objective: to make special because she “just has to”, an approach that serves her well as her work morphs into new structures and the party moves onward.

Rue 48 teams with Non-profit group SAVE to raise awareness of suicide prevention
A few months ago, a beautiful and kind young woman, a friend and salon client ended her life, leaving behind many unanswered questions for her family and friends to answer. The staff at Rue 48 Salon were all affected emotionally, and have teamed up with SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education), a nonprofit agency based out of Bloomington, MN to raise awareness and to help prevent suicide www.save.org.
Did you know that suicide takes the lives of nearly 30,000 Americans every year. The strongest risk factor for suicide is depression. Depression is the #1 disability in the world according to World Health Organization (WHO). Throughout the year, Rue 48 will be sponsoring events where some of the proceeds will go to benefit and bring awareness to SAVE. These funds will be used by SAVE to help prevent suicide and to assist those affected by suicide through public awareness and education, bereavement suport groups and community events.
Rue 48 Salon is very excited about our partnership with SAVE as we all try to make a difference in our communities.
Pucker up and Save a Life:
Lipsticks - 10% of all lipstick sold this year will go directly towards SAVE.
